  • FACT CHECK: Does This Video Show The Aftermath Of A Russian Strike In Kherson? A video shared on Facebook claims to show the aftermath of a Russian strike in Kherson, Ukraine. Verdict: False The video was taken in 2017, not 2023. The footage was also shot in Kharkiv, not Kherson. Fact Check: Russia shelled the right bank of the Kherson Oblast, killing one person and hitting Kherson City April 2, according to UkrInform. Finland entered the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as a member state, irking Russian President Vladimir Putin, The New York Times reported. Social media users have been sharing a video of an explosion, claiming to show an ammunition depot in Kherson. The video’s caption reads, “Strike on the warehouse of ammunition of Ukrainian troops in Kherson.” The video was shared on Twitter, with one iteration receiving over 30,000 views. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that the video has been circulating since 2017. A still from the video was published on a Russian news outlet in 2017, which identified the location as Kharkiv Oblast. Media outlets, such as BBC News, covered the explosion and identified the location as the city of Balakliya, which is in the Kharkiv Oblast. Kyle Glen, an investigator at the Center for Information Resilience, also debunked the claim on Twitter.
