A video of a rally is going viral on social media with the claim that it is related to the communal violence in Tripura. The video of this rally is being shared on social media with the claim that people in Kerala protested against the violence in Tripura in this way. This claim turned out to be false in the investigation of Vishvas News. The video going viral is not related to Tripura violence. This video is almost two years old. What’s in the viral post? Sharing the viral video, social media user ‘M Javed Siddiqui’ wrote, “Kerala Muslims protest against Tripura Violence.👇🏼”. Investigation We did a Google reverse image search of the screenshots of this video. We got glimpses of this clip in a video uploaded on the youtube channel ‘Mannarkkad live’ on January 3, 2020. This viral scene can be seen after the time stamp of 5 minutes in this 11-minute video. Here the description read, “Maha rally organized in Mannarkkad against the Citizenship Amendment Act.” We also found this video uploaded on an Instagram account named pknishab on 3rd January 2020. Here also hashtags like #rejectnrc #rejectcaa #Mannarkkad were used. A YouTube channel, ‘Hadi Media’ also shared the same video on 18 January 2020. Dainik Jagran reporter Arun Singh covered the Anti-NRC Protests at that time. Talking to us, Arun Singh confirmed that this video is from 2020 Kerala. Facebook user M Javed Siddiqui, who shared the viral video with the false claim, lives in Delhi. Conclusion: This claim turned out to be false in the investigation of Vishvas News.
