As per the voice-over with the video, the machine shown in the video is manufacturing fake cashew nuts. It can be seen in the video, some cashew-shaped objects are being made. When Vishvas News investigated, we found that the machine is not manufacturing fake cashews. In fact, it is making snacks in the shape of cashews. Vishvas News debunked the post earlier as well. This post has resurfaced after few months. Claim The video that has resurfaced on Facebook shows a video of a machine cutting out cashew-shaped objects from a white sheet. It has been claimed that fake cashews are being manufactured. The caption along with the post read: “Fake cashew making machine: what a big game of making a profit with people’s health.” The archived version of the post can be checked here. Investigation We investigated by searching the video using InVid Tool. Through Google Reverse Image Search of the screengrabs of the video, we found the same video on the Youtube channel ‘Tushar Pandya’. The video was titled ‘Kaju Nimki Making Machine.’ When we investigated the channel we found that Tushar Pandya manufactures machines for snacks. We contacted Tushar Pandya who owns Chotiwala Foods and Machines and manufactures snacks-making machines. He said: “This is the fake claim that says the machine is manufacturing fake cashews. It is a snack made of flour. The machine shows the cutting of a flour sheet in the shape of cashews. It is sold as a snack and is roasted before eating.” The complete fact check can be checked here. We scanned the profile of the Facebook user who shared the viral post. The user named Dilip Tiwari is based out of Lucknow. Conclusion: When Vishvas News investigated, we found that the machine is not manufacturing fake cashews. In fact, it is making snacks in the shape of cashews.
