Investigation To verify the authenticity of the viral claim, we conducted a Google search using relevant keywords and found no news reports of Shah Rukh Khan visiting Maha Kumbh. Next, we conducted a Google Reverse Image search on the key frames of the viral video. This led us to a video uploaded on NDTV’s YouTube channel on September 5, 2023, where the viral clip appeared at the 1-minute mark. According to the video’s description, “Superstar Shah Rukh Khan offered prayers at the Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple in Tirupati, ahead of the release of his upcoming film Jawan. The actor was dressed in his festive best as he was clicked at the temple. His co-star Nayanthara, along with husband Vignesh Shivan was also clicked at the temple.” Additionally, we found the same video uploaded on the Indian Express YouTube channel, uploaded on the same date, i.e., September 5, 2023. The video was titled, “Jawan: Shah Rukh Khan & Nayanthara Offer Prayer At Tirumala Ahead Of Jawan’s Release” Using relevant keywords, we found many news reports about Shah Rukh Khan visiting Tirupati temple in September 2023. Additionally, we spoke to Dainik Jagran’s senior journalist Smita Srivastava, who covers Bollywood in Mumbai. She confirmed that this video dates back to September 2023 when Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara offered prayers at Tirumala, ahead of Jawan’s release. Finally, we scanned the Instagram account of user ‘ayodhyaa_2024’, who shared the video with the misleading claim and found that the user has over three lakh followers. Conclusion: Vishvas News’ investigation confirmed that the viral claim is false. The video does not feature Shah Rukh Khan at the Maha Kumbh, but at the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
