The Claim
A YouTube video titled “How To Make a TOFU Poultice For Brain Tumors!” was shared on the SAVING HEALTH NETWORK YouTube channel that claims tofu can kill brain tumors. The video shows a person named David Cook demonstrating a process for quickly eliminating brain tumors using tofu. He recommends placing tofu on the back of the head to starve the tumor. The reason given is that the tofu retains cold temperatures for a longer duration compared to a regular block of ice can and placing it on the back of the head diverts the blood flow in the brain away from the tumor.

What is tofu?
Tofu is produced by soaking dried soybeans in water, crushing them, and boiling the mixture. This process separates the mixture into a solid pulp called okara and a liquid called soy milk. Next step is adding salt coagulants like calcium and magnesium chlorides and sulfates to the soy milk to further separate the curds from the whey.
Why does brain tumor occur?
A brain tumor is an abnormal growth of cells in the brain. It can originate from brain tissue itself or from cancer cells that have spread to the brain from other parts of the body. Brain tumors can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous).
The exact causes of most brain tumors are unknown. However, certain factors such as age, exposure to ionizing radiation, genetic conditions, compromised immune systems, and potential environmental factors may contribute to their development. However, the majority of brain tumors occur without identifiable risk factors. We need further research to fully understand the causes of brain tumors.
Can tofu kill brain tumors?
No. We found no evidence that confirms tofu can kill brain tumors. Also, no evidence supports the claim that cold tofu compresses applied to the back of the head can kill brain tumors.
Besides this, we researched further and found that the claimant has a history of sharing unproven medical claims.
Brain tumors are abnormal cell masses caused by DNA changes. Their treatment involves surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. No evidence shows that medical professionals recognizes cold tofu compresses as a safe or effective treatment for brain tumors.
Dr Manish Singhal, Senior Oncologist, Apollo Hospital, says, “A tumour can push itself or grow into nearby blood vessels, nerves, and organs and affect the body’s normal functioning. Therefore, it is necessary to consult a doctor, irrespective of the tumour being benign or malignant.”

What can be the side effects of relying on quick fixes to cure tumors and not seeking medical treatment?
Relying solely on quick fixes or alternative remedies without seeking proper medical treatment for tumors can have significant consequences. These quick fixes may not address the underlying cause of the tumor or provide the necessary treatment. This can lead to a delay in receiving appropriate treatment. As a result, the tumor can continue to grow and progress. Doctors have diagnostic tools and expertise to identify and diagnose tumors at an early stage. At this stage, treatment options are more effective. Without proper medical intervention, the tumor may advance to a more advanced stage. At the advanced stage, it is harder to treat and potentially reducing the chances of success.
Furthermore, tumors can cause complications and risks if left untreated. They can cause pressure on surrounding tissues and structures, leading to neurological deficits, pain, and other complications. Additionally, depending on the type of tumor, there may be an increased risk of complications such as hemorrhage, infection, or damage to vital structures. In certain cases, tumors can spread to other parts of the body if not addressed promptly, further increasing the risks and challenges in treatment.
