A viral video allegedly shows a Muslim man attacking a Hindu priest in Rajasthan on Maha Shivratri. AFWA found that both men were Hindu.

Both, the accused and the victim, were Hindus. According to the police, a long-standing rivalry between them and an alleged land dispute may have been the motive.
In a violent and disturbing video that’s been making the rounds on social media, a man in a blue shirt can be seen attacking a man in a white shirt. The blue-shirted man can be seen assaulting, stabbing, and ultimately smashing the white-shirted man’s head with what looks like a large rock.
Allegedly, the blue-shirted man was Muslim and he attacked a Hindu priest and his family in the Dudu village of Rajasthan's Jaipur on the day of Maha Shivratri.
AFWA, in its investigation, however, found that both, the victim and the accused, were Hindu men.
What media reports say
Reverse searching the viral video’s keyframes, we found a similar video in a report by Dainik Bhaskar. Per this report published on February 19, the video shows the murder of senior advocate Jugraj Chauhan in Rajasthan's Jodhpur district. The report identified the accused men as Anil Chauhan and Mukesh Chauhan, who were involved in a long-term feud with Jugraj.
Many other media organisations, including Aaj Tak, the Hindustan Times, and Jagran reported this incident. All these reports identified both, the victim and the accused, as Hindus.
Reportedly, on February 18, the attackers blocked Jugraj while he was on his way home. Following this, a scuffle broke out between them, and one of the attackers took out a knife and stabbed the lawyer in the chest. Jugraj died after the accused smashed a rock on his head.
No communal angle, confirms Jodhpur police
On Twitter, the official account of Deputy Commissioner of Police Jodhpur clarified that the murder was related to a land dispute.
Speaking to the media, Nazim Ali, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), also clarified that the people involved in the case were all Hindus and that a long-term feud between the two parties led to the murder. He also said a special team was formed to investigate the case and the accused men were in police custody.
As per reports, the incident led to protests in Jodhpur. Lawyers in Jodhpur took out a procession demanding compensation to the kin of Jugraj, among other things.
Jaipur police also dismiss communal spin
Another video of a Hindu man, who alleged that he was attacked by Muslims while he was preparing for Maha Shivratri, was also widely shared on social media. Jaipur Rural Police dismissed this on its official Twitter account. Police said it was a fight between two Hindu families and four people were arrested.
