  • Fact Check: Did Imran Khan stutter over questions about human testing for cancer research in his hospital? In a viral video, Imran Khan was unable to answer and mumbled when he was asked about conspiracy theories about his cancer hospital. Listen to Story India Today Fact Check This video is digitally altered. When Khan was asked about these allegations made by former Pakistani cricketer Sarfaraz Nawaz, he replied by calling his former teammate is 'stupid'. A video of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been making rounds on social media, where he can be seen mumbling while answering questions asked by journalist Rajat Sharma. Many on Twitter shared this interview clip alongside conspiracy theories. In this video, Sharma questioned Khan about a Jewish pharmaceutical company owned by his former in-laws that wanted to conduct a cancer drug experiment on living humans in his hospital. Sharma further asked Khan if an ample amount of money was spent to make this experiment a success. Khan, in the video, first stammered and responded that he did not want to talk about this. Several people shared this video with Urdu captions that accused Khan of a conspiracy in his hospitals in the 90s. An archived version can be seen here. AFWA investigation found that the video was digitally altered to give it a false spin. AFWA Probe With the help of a search with some keywords, we came across the original video uploaded to the YouTube channel of India TV four years ago. Titled “Imran Khan in Aap Ki Adalat”, this 39-minute-long video was part of a court-room themed interview hosted by journalist Rajat Sharma. Around the 16-minute mark, Sharma is heard referring to an allegation made by Sarfaraz Nawaz, a former Pakistani cricketer and teammate of Khan, before asking the question that has gone viral. Replying to this, Khan promptly said, "As I have mentioned earlier, he (Sarfaraz Nawaz) has sunk below the beast’s level. There is a saying in English — 'gone case'. So, there is no point talking because he is a stupid man. Apart from being stupid, he is a man with ill intentions,” making it clear that his response was something else compared to the viral video. In this interview, Khan also responded to some other allegations raised by his former dressing room companion Javed Miandad. While his counter was more polite towards Miandad, Khan went all guns blazing against Nawaz and compared him to a “thief”. Therefore, it is safe to conclude that the video of Imran Khan was shared with clipped answers to give it a misleading spin.
