  • Fact Check: Old video of Kejriwal's Punjab rally being recycled for AAP's show of strength in poll-bound Gujarat An old video of Kejriwal's Punjab rally being recycled for AAP's show of strength in poll-bound Gujarat went viral with the wrong claim. Listen to Story India Today Fact Check This video is from the Moga district of Punjab and not Gujarat. It shows Kejriwal addressing a Kisan Mahapanchayat held in March 2021, ahead of the Punjab assembly elections. Election campaigning is heating up in poll-bound Gujarat, with prominent political leaders visiting the state to woo the voters. Amid this, a video of a large crowd attending a public meeting is being circulated on social media with the claim that these people gathered for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s rally in Gujarat. In the video, we can see the jam-packed ground as well as people sitting atop buses and other vehicles. The Dias of the rally or any leader are not visible in the video. AFWA found that the video is more than one year old and hence not related to the upcoming assembly elections in Gujarat. AFWA Probe We did a reverse search of the keyframes of the viral video and found the same footage uploaded by multiple Twitter profiles on March 22, 2021. Per these tweets, the video was from a 'Kisan Mahapanchayat' that was organised in the Moga district of Punjab. pic.twitter.com/rU99U4kxQl — Bhagat Singh,AAPian,,(ssm), FB%,noDM (@bmahabharat2) March 22, 2021 Taking a cue from this, we further did a keyword search in Punjabi on the Facebook search tool 'Who Posted What' (Who posted what?). This led us to a high-resolution version of the viral video uploaded on March 21, 2021. In this video, we can see Punjabi text written on the parked buses and several men in turbans attending the meeting. It gives a clue that the video could be from Punjab. Using 'Who Posted What', we also found multiple other videos from the same event on Facebook. As per the description of these videos, the meeting took place on March 21, 2021, in Bagha Purana in Punjab’s Moga district. In one such video, people can be seen watching Kejriwal’s speech on wide screens. Several posters of AAP Punjab with images of Kejriwal and local leaders can also be seen in this video. The posters have captions such as "Kejriwal with farmers" and "Kisan Sabha Sammelan" written in Punjabi. A comparison between this video and a better-quality version of the viral video confirms that the viral video is indeed from the AAP event in Punjab's Moga district. Multiple media organisations also reported about the event on March 21, 2021. According to these reports, a 'Kisan Mahapanchayat' was organised by AAP against the Centre's farm laws, which were later rolled back. The viral video was earlier fact-checked by a Punjabi news organisation Rozana Spokesman. It is hence clear that the video in question is from a meeting organised by AAP in Punjab in 2021, which is now being passed off as Gujarat in the run-up to the state elections.
