On one hand, some posts explained how chicken increases immunity and helps beat COVID-19 whereas other posts only carried the phrase. Vishvas News investigated and found the post to be fake. Claim A post shared on Facebook by a user named Dr-Faheem Ahmed reads: “Eat Chicken, Beat Corona”. The archived version of the post can be checked here. Investigation Vishvas News started its investigation and found that even though chicken is rich is certain nutrients, there are no reports suggesting that eating chicken beats coronavirus. According to United States health department website NIH, poultry products as a primary source of Vitamin B6. According to the health website of Harvard, “A warm bowl of chicken soup is a popular go-to when we’re feeling under the weather. Is there scientific evidence that it aids in healing? The short answer is no; there aren’t any clinical trials that show that chicken soup speeds healing any more than other foods. But when breaking down its ingredients, it does appear a worthwhile remedy to try.”Can chicken prevent coronavirus? According to Dr. Anant Parashar, MD Medicine, “Eating healthy is an important step towards building a healthy body. But, a single substance diet alone cannot build immunity against COVID-19. No, chicken cannot beat coronavirus, if it did all patients would be advised to do that. All precautions should be taken for the prevention of COVID-19 and ofcourse, good diet.” The slogan that is doing rounds went viral after the Karnataka Poultry Farmers and Breeders Association and Vencobb — part of All India Poultry Development and Services Private Limited released an advertisement. The advertisement seemed like a response to rumor that “eating chicken and eggs during the pandemic is not safe”. The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) condemned the advertisement and it was revoked. This happened after PETA India filed a complaint against the Advertisement. The post has been shared on Facebook by a user named Dr-Faheem Ahmed. When we scanned the profile of the user we found that the user is based out of Multan. Conclusion: Eating chicken won’t beat coronavirus.
