The Pittsburgh Steelers game against the Tennessee Titans scheduled for Sunday will be delayed until next week after an outbreak of coronavirus cases affecting the Titans, the NFL said Wednesday. An NFL statement said the Steelers-Titans clash would be rescheduled in order to allow for additional testing to ensure safety of players, coaches and personnel. "Details on the new game date and time on either Monday or Tuesday will be announced as soon as possible," the league said. On Tuesday, the Titans confirmed eight people -- three players and five members of staff -- had tested positive for Covid-19, the first significant outbreak of the virus to hit the new NFL season. The Titans immediately shuttered team facilities as a precaution. The Minnesota Vikings, who had faced the Titans in Minneapolis on Sunday, also halted team activities following the cluster of cases. The NFL season kicked off earlier this month with all teams following strict safety protocols to ward off the threat of coronavirus outbreaks. So far, the league's testing regime has been broadly successful, with zero positive cases in the most recent round of test results announced by the NFL last week. rcw/dmc
