Britain's largest car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover on Thursday said it would next week suspend production at two of its three UK plants as the coronavirus pandemic has caused a supply crunch in semiconductors. JLR, owned by India's Tata Motors, said that along with other carmakers around the world the group is "experiencing some Covid-19 supply chain disruption, including the global availability of semiconductors". "As a result, we have adjusted production schedules for certain vehicles which means that our Castle Bromwich and Halewood manufacturing plants will be operating a limited period of non-production from Monday," it added in a statement. The plants employ a combined 5,700 staff. Solihull, the biggest of JLR's plants in the UK with 8,500 workers, will continue to operate as normal. jbo-bcp/rl
