Next month's Six Nations women's match between France and Ireland has been moved to Dublin to help the Irish side comply with their national coronavirus restrictions it was announced Friday. The November 1 fixture, the tournament finale for both teams, should have been played at the Stadium Lille Metropole. But that would have meant the Irish, who are an amateur side, having to restrict their movements for 14 days on their return. An Irish Rugby Football Union statement said players could not be expected to sign up to such isolation given their "responsibilities to their families and employers, some of which are in the teaching and medical communities". By contrast, the professional Ireland men's team can remain within a strict high-performance bubble on their return from an away fixture. The France Women's XV can travel to and from Ireland without restriction as there is no requirement from the French government to isolate on their return. IRFU chief executive Philip Browne praised the French Rugby Federation and their women's team for "this superb act of solidarity with their Irish counterparts." France are second in the standings, having played three games to leaders England's four, with Ireland in third place when Covid-19 halted the 2020 Championship. jdg/pb
