  • Features Editors: Paris: Kate Millar +33 1 4041 4636 Hong Kong: Liz Thomas +852 2829 6211 Twitter: @AFPfeature We are today publishing the first part of a series devoted to survivors of the Nazi concentration camps, 75 years after the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp on January 27, 1945 and to mark the World Holocaust Forum on January 23 at Yad Vashem. For weeks, journalists in AFP's Jerusalem bureau interviewed 10 of the last survivors of Auschwitz, the former Nazi death camp that has come to symbolise the Holocaust. Despite their advanced years, as well as the difficulty, pain and fatigue of reliving their experiences, the survivors agreed to give their testimonies on camera and in front of the lense, in order to pass them on. AFP's archives and photo services have also selected images taken in 1945 by the AFP photographer who accompanied Allied forces as they advanced and who was himself searching for his mother who had been deported. His unflinching lense bore witness to the full horror of the Holocaust. AFP additionally has some rare images of Auschwitz in photo and video taken by a drone. We are offering the following items: + The last survivors: growing old with memories of Auschwitz + 75 years on, the faces of Auschwitz survivors + A photographer's search for his mother in Nazi concentration camps + How the Nazis carried out their 'Final Solution' + How the world discovered the Nazi death camps + 1945, the last year of World War II History-Holocaust-Nazis-Jews-Israel,SPECIAL REPORT JERUSALEM As he looks at pictures of his parents and sisters who perished in Auschwitz, Szmul Icek begins to tremble, tears clouding his eyes.
