  • A man suspected of shooting dead his boss and a colleague at a sawmill in southern France surrendered on Friday after a massive three-day manhunt in the rugged Cevennes mountains. "The man sought since Tuesday... has turned himself in," French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin wrote in a tweet. Clad in camouflage, 29-year-old Valentin Marcone surrendered without incident after being cornered in a church in the town of Saint-Marcel de Fontfouillouse, around 60 kilometres (37 miles) north of the city of Montpellier, according to a source involved in the case who asked not to be named. More than 350 officers backed by helicopters, drones and dogs joined the manhunt for Marcone that began on Tuesday. He is alleged to have shot his boss after being chided for not saying hello on arriving for work at a sawmill in the village of Les Plantiers. Shocked by the attack, another colleague tried to intervene, but the suspect also shot him several times in the head, a witness told investigators. Investigators said the man had recently clashed with his boss about his working hours. The rugged Cevennes, a bastion of French Protestantism, is one of the most remote regions of France.
