| - NFL veteran receiver Josh Gordon, indefinitely suspended by the league last December but hoping for reinstatement, was re-signed by the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday, his agent said. David Canter told the NFL Network and ESPN about the one-year signing, which follows Gordon's reinstatement application last June after being banned for violating league rules on substances of abuse and performance-enhancing substances. The Seahawks had claimed Gordon off waivers in November after the New England Patriots released him. He caught seven passes in five games for Seattle in 2019 before receiving his fifth suspension in eight years. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has overseen Gordon's reinstatement bid, with ESPN reporting his return to active duty was imminent. In six NFL seasons for Cleveland, the Patriots and Seattle, Gordon caught 247 passes for 4,252 yards and 20 touchdowns. Gordon was suspended in 2018 and missed New England's Super Bowl run, but reinstated last August and played six games for the Patriots before being placed on injured reserve and released in October. Gordon, 29, has not gone through a season without a suspension since he was a rookie in 2012. js/rcw
