Qatar's Al Sadd and Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr both lost their final group matches against already eliminated rivals in the Asian Champions League on Thursday. While Al Sadd were shocked 2-1 by Iran's Sepahan, fellow qualifiers for the last-16 stage Al Nassr fell to a 1-0 defeat to former champions Al Ain. The only point of interest in Thursday's Group D matches was about who among them would claim the bragging rights as group winners, with the honour finally going to Al Nassr with 11 points from six matches. Al Sadd finished second on nine points, while Sepahan and Al Ain were third and fourth with seven and five points respectively. Reza Mirzaei put Sepahan ahead in the 14th minute off an assist by Danial Esmaeilifar, while Sajjad Shahabazzadeh increased the lead for the Iranians with a 54th minute strike. For Al Sadd, Hashim Ali was on the mark in the 83rd minute to reduce the margin. Al Ain meanwhile snatched their first win in six matches, Togolese striker Kodjo Laba scoring the only goal of the match in the 19th minute. str/td
