  • Fact Check: Staged stunt video falsely shared as Israeli women knocking out Arab men India Today found the purported clash to be a staged performance in Paris. Listen to Story India Today Fact Check The video is a staged performance by stunt artists from Campus Univers Cascades, a professional training centre in Paris. The Israel-Hamas conflict has sparked an unprecedented surge in anti-Arab and anti-Muslim racism globally. A video making the rounds on social media now shows a street brawl involving three women and several men. Allegedly, this incident took place in Paris where three Israeli women overpowered 10 Arab men who accosted them. One such post read, "Caught on CCTV - In a Paris underpass, three Israeli girls are accosted by 10 young Arab men. In about 10 seconds, the three girls prove that Arab boys are no match for Israeli girls." An archived version of this tweet can be seen here. India Today found that the viral video of the brawl is staged and claims about the individuals' ethnicity were fabricated to fuel animosity between Israelis and Arabs. Our Probe Conducting a reverse image search on keyframes from the viral video led us to an Instagram post dated November 2, 2023. The account “campus.univers.cascades” which posted the video, also contained several other videos of street fights, martial arts training, and combat stunts. This suggested that the viral video was likely staged. Twelve people were tagged in the post containing the video. India Today reached out to all the people tagged to understand the context of the clip. Lucas Dollfus, one of the combatants seen in the video, confirmed that the video was part of a training exercise themed "street fight." While aiming for maximum realism, he emphasised that it was merely a stunt for a movie. Dollfus clarified that the racial context being alleged was made up and that the fight was staged by stunt performers from Campus Univers Cascades, a professional training centre established in Paris in 2008 for stunt techniques in cinema and entertainment. Another team member, Noa Potard, also confirmed that everything was meticulously prepared in advance and choreographed. Thus, it’s clear that a choreographed fight by stunt performers was shared with false racial claims. Please share it on our at 73 7000 7000 You can also send us an email at factcheck@intoday.com
