  • FACT CHECK: Video Claims To Show Fire In Jordan After Iranian Attack A video shared on Facebook claims to show a fire in Jordan after an Iranian attack on Israel. Verdict: False The video is from March 2024 and is not related to the Iranian attack. Fact Check: Jordan helped Israel shoot down Iranian missiles and drones on April 13, which Iran launched in retaliation to Israel bombing an Iranian embassy complex building that killed several Iranian military officials, according to CNN. Social media users are sharing a video of a fire, claiming it shows the impact of a misfired Iranian missile in Jordan. One user wrote, “BREAKING: A fire in Jordan caused by an Iranian misfired missile!” This claim is false, though. The video appears to show an oil tank fire in Jordan in late March, at least two weeks before the April 13 attack. A similar video was uploaded to YouTube on March 27 with the title, “Three oil tanks fire in the city of Ramtha.” Jordanian outlet Roya News reported that there was an oil tank fire on March 26. The fire did not cause any casualties, according to the outlet. (RELATED: Video Claims To Show Israelis Panicking During The Iranian Missile Attack) Logically Facts reported that people who appeared in the Facebook video also appeared in the YouTube video and various other videos of the March 26 oil tank fire. Therefore, Check Your Fact rates the claim that it shows the impact of a malfunctioning Iranian missile as false.
