Vishvas News (New Delhi): A picture is going viral on social media amid floods in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. In this picture, a child is seen saving a puppy in the flood. Users are claiming that the picture is from Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh. Vishvas News investigated the viral post and found that the picture is old. It is actually from Vietnam and has nothing to do with recent floods in Madhya Pradesh.
Claim
Facebook page JMC Furniture shared a picture and wrote, “We need to learn a lot from this touching picture of an innocent saving his life as well as the life of an innocent animal in the midst of severe floods. Pic Shivpuri Madhya Pradesh.”

Investigation
Vishvas News started searching the internet for the viral image using Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh as keywords. The picture was used in many places with different claims and different dates. This made one thing clear that the picture has nothing to do with the recent floods. During the search, we also found this picture on GlobalGiving.org. It can be viewed here.
We found the oldest picture on a Flickr account named s gendera. The picture was uploaded on November 28, 2009. The caption stated that the picture is from Vietnam. It can be viewed here.
Vishvas News contacted Abhishek Sharma, Bureau Chief, Naiduniya, Shivpuri. He told that the viral picture is not of Shivpuri. The floods in Shivpuri are now under control.
We scanned the Facebook page of JMC Furniture that shared the viral post and found that the page was created on December 3, 2015.
Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated the viral post and found that the picture is old. It is actually from Vietnam and has nothing to do with recent floods in Madhya Pradesh.
