  • Fact Check: Video Of Thailand’s Boat-Shaped Vehicle Falsely Linking To Maha Kumbh Vishvas News found the claim to be fake and that the video has no connection with Maha Kumbh. A video of a boat-shaped vehicle is going viral on different social media platforms. Some people can be seen riding the vehicle, along with a few idols placed in it. Some users have shared the video with the claim that a man reached Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh festival using the vehicle. Vishvas News found the claim to be fake and that the video has no connection with Maha Kumbh. It is in fact, an old video from Thailand now being shared with the false claim. What is in the viral post? A Facebook user shared the viral post with the caption, “A person going to Mahakumbh in the Pushpak Viman of Kalyug. Come to Kumbh Mela. Jai Jai Shri Ram Jai Jai Shri Ram in Kumbh Mela.” See the archived version of the post here. Investigation We began our investigation by extracted key frames of the viral video and reverse searched them them using Google Lens. We found the same video uploaded across various social media platforms. This video has been uploaded to TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube channels and is reportedly from Thailand. The link can be found here. Based on this, we furthered our investigation and found this video uploaded on another Instagram on November 6, 2024. In the video, we noticed a TikTok account named ‘@b_lawan_klanthong’. We accessed this TikTok account using VPN, and found the video was uploaded on November 5, 2024. At the same time, the video also mentioned Manorom District as the location. On searching Google, we discovered that Manorom District is located in the Chai Nat province of Thailand. We also found related news report about the viral video published three months ago, which confirms that the video originated from Thailand. We found a similar picture from the viral video uploaded on the photo agency Shutter Stock’s website on November 6, 2024, citing Thailand. At the end of the investigation, Vishvas News contacted Rakesh Pandey, the editorial in-charge of Dainik Jagran, Prayagraj, who confirmed that this video is not of Mahakumbh and the claim is false. Conclusion: Investigation of the claim by Vishvas News revealed that video has no connection with India or Mahakumbh and the claim is fake.
