The post is accompanied by a link. Vishvas News investigated and found that the viral post is a scam. The suspicious link is prompting readers to enter their personal details. Readers are advised not to click on any such link, it is a fraudulent post. Claim: A post (archive link) on Facebook claims that Tata Motors is offering free gifts on the occasion of India’s mega G20 event. A link has been shared along with the post. The post was also shared by many on WhatsApp. Investigation: Vishvas News started its investigation by searching for contests that Tata Motors had recently organised. We did not find any such contests on their official website. We further searched news articles mentioning any such content, no such news articles were published recently. We further searched and found posts from Tata Motors’s official Facebook and Instagram accounts stating that “it has come to our attention that certain posts in the guise of contests and free merchandise from Tata Motors are being circulated on social media with the malicious intent of enabling data pilferage and phishing of anyone who opens the links…” We then checked the link given in the viral post. The link in the viral post is different from the official website link of Tata Motors – tatamotors.com. The link asks multiple survey questions and prompts readers to share it with more friends on WhatsApp. We also found a post on Facebook where a user stated that the post seemed fraudulent. Vishvas News contacted a cyber security expert Anuj Aggarwal, who informed, “Offering free gifts is the reason this post is going viral, it’s not TATA for sure. Please don’t click it.” On performing a social scan of the user Ranjan Kumar, who shared the viral claim, Vishvas News found that he is a musician by profession, lives in Rohtas and has 2,500 followers on Facebook. Conclusion: Based on the investigation conducted by Vishvas News, it is evident that the claim of Tata Motors offering G20 summit gifts is a scam. Readers are strongly advised to avoid clicking on such links and exercise caution when encountering similar claims on social media. - Claim Review : Tata Motors is offering free G20 summit gifts - Claimed By : Fb user: Ranjan Kumar - Fact Check : False Know the truth!
