| - Fact Check: Rs 500 currency notes used on a dessert at NMACC event were fake

Several images were shared by the guests of the event. Among all the viral images, one showing a plate of dessert decorated with currency notes is being shared with the claim that the 500 rupee notes were served with the dish, instead of tissue paper.

Fact check:
The 500 rupee notes present on the dish are fake. The dish is called Daulat ki chaat.
When we searched using the keywords “Ambani party 500 notes”, we found several articles published about the gala event.
According to the India Today report, the food item seen is called Daulat ki Chaat, a much-loved recipe in North India. It has fake notes on it.
When we searched for ‘Daulat ki Chaat’, we found a few articles about the old Delhi’s delectable treat.
An article published in Scroll states that chefs in Delhi create sweets using fake notes as decoration.
Indian actress Priyanka Chopra also posted a picture of herself enjoying the dish in November 2019 on her social media accounts. She was trolled for this post that she wasted real money to decorate the dish.
According to Latestly, the dish was decorated with fake currency, clearly, a pun on the name of the dish and a closer look at the notes is enough to figure out that they are fake.
When observed carefully, we found that the notes decorated on the dish do not resemble real 500 rupee notes. Firstly, the currency notes seen in the viral image are much larger in size than normal. The text “₹500” written at the end of the actual currency cannot be seen on the notes in the viral image. The text ‘Red Fort’ is also missing on the notes in the viral image.

Therefore, the notes seen on a sweet dish served at the NAMCC event are not real 500 rupee notes. They are fake and served as part of a Delhi-based dish named ‘Daulat ki Chaat’. The claim that currency notes were meant to be used as tissue papers at the Ambani party is false.
