  • Ahead of the elections in Delhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shared a campaign video on their official X (formerly Twitter) handle that showed several dilapidated roads taking a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party government (AAP) in the state. What did the post say?: It was shared with a caption in Hindi that loosely translates to, "It is impossible to tell whether there is a road in the potholes or a pothole in the road, This AAP-Da came into existence because of a mistake in choosing! Now we will not tolerate it, we will change it." What's the twist?: The problem with the video was that it showed several visuals from BJP-ruled Haryana's Faridabad. This made the claim misleading. How did we find that out?: On closely looking at the viral video, we found a white signboard that said "Thakur Udaypal Singh Dharamshala" in the background. Geolocating the place: Team WebQoof searched for the name on Google Maps. Using the help of 'street view' option, we found similar visuals as seen in the viral video, taken in 2022. The visuals were from Faridabad, Haryana. It should be noted that there is a BJP government in the state. Comparing visuals: We compared keyframes from the viral clip to the visuals available on Google Maps and found that the video was indeed recorded in Haryana. (Swipe right to view all comparisons.) A comparison clearly highlights the similarities. (Source: Google Maps/Screenshot/Altered by The Quint) AAP debunks the claim too: The official X handle of AAP, too, clarified that the video was from Haryana's Faridabad and not Delhi. It was shared on 12 January. Conclusion: It is evident that the video shows visuals from Haryana. (Not convinced of a post or information you came across online and want it verified?
