  • FACT CHECK: Did This Headline Report That Ukrainian Sex Workers Are Discriminating Against People Of Color? An image shared on social media allegedly shows a news headline reporting Ukrainian refugee sex workers are discriminating against black citizens. — The Aureus Press (@Trad_West_Art) February 9, 2023 Verdict: False The image is digitally altered. There is no evidence such an article was authored by any outlet. Fact Check: In a single day of combat in the city of Vuhledar, 5,000 Russian troops were captured, injured or killed, according to Fox News. United Nations agencies are seeking $5.6 billion in aid for Ukrainians stuck in the country and those abroad, NPR reported. The Twitter post allegedly shows a news headline reporting on racism of the Ukrainian refugees. The cover image features several young women on a train. “Ukraine refugees involved in sex work refuse to sleep with Black and colored people: The new face of European Racism,” the headline reads. The image is digitally altered. A search of the text under the stock photo leads to an article from the news outlet the Vision Times. The authentic headline reads, “Ukraine War Puts Refugee Women at Risk of Human Trafficking, Sex Predators.” The format of the article is the same as the posted headline and features the same stock photo. The supposed author of the article is Tyrone Goldberg. However, there is no evidence that this writer ever worked for the Vision Times. Furthermore, there is no evidence of any such headline appearing on the Vision Times website, with the author of the authentic article named Neil Campbell. There is no evidence that this report is an authentic post from a credible news outlet. The post does not identify which news outlet is responsible for the alleged headline.
