  • Fact Check: No 'Modi-Modi' chants during Trump's victory speech The crowd gave a shout-out to Trump's ally Robert F Kennedy Junior, whose nickname is Bobby, during the victory speech. There were no "Modi" chants. Listen to Story India Today Fact Check The crowd was chanting 'Bobby-Bobby' about Trump’s ally Robert F Kennedy Junior. There were no 'Modi' chants. Following Donald Trump’s landslide victory in the US presidential elections, a video went viral on social media allegedly showing the crowd chanting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name as Trump delivered his victory speech. The video begins with Trump saying, “Make America healthy again,” following which the crowd can be heard chanting someone’s name. Responding to these cheers, Trump says, “I know he’s a great guy and he really means it. He wants to do some things and we’re gonna let him go do it.” Allegedly this was about Modi. India Today Fact Check found that the crowd was cheering for Trump’s ally, Robert F Kennedy Junior. There were no “Modi” chants. Our Probe The full video of Donald Trump’s victory speech was shared by all major American news channels. In the Fox News YouTube video of the speech, the viral clip can be seen at the 19-minute-37-second mark. Looking at the whole video, it becomes clear that Trump was talking about Robert F Kennedy Junior, popularly known as RFK Jr. The crowd was actually chanting his nickname “Bobby”, which can sound like “Modi”. In the video, Trump said, “There are fantastic people and we can add a few names like Robert F Kennedy Junior, he came in. And he’s going to help make America healthy again.” Right after that, the crowd chanted “Bobby-Bobby”. After that, Trump added, “I know he’s a great guy and he really means it. He wants to do some things and we’re gonna let him go do it. I just said but Bobby, leave the oil to me. We have more liquid gold, oil and gas. We have more liquid gold than any country in the world. More than Saudi Arabia, we have more than Russia. Bobby, stay away from the liquid gold. Other than that, go, have a good time, Bobby.” During the speech, not even once did the crowd chant Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name. Trump, too, didn’t mention Modi. There are several news reports mentioning Trump’s shoutout to Robert F. Kennedy Junior during his victory speech. India Today’s Washington DC correspondent Rohit Sharma also confirmed that there were no “Modi-Modi” chants during Trump’s victory speech. Who is RFK Jr.? RFK Jr. initially contested as an independent candidate in the presidential elections. However, he later dropped out of the race and endorsed Donald Trump. As per reports, Trump has hinted that he might make Kennedy in-charge of the US public health agencies. This has been a point of controversy as Kennedy is known to be an anti-vaccine activist and a conspiracy theorist. It is thus clear that the viral video does not show PM Modi’s name being chanted by the audience during Donald Trump’s victory speech.
