New Delhi (Vishvas News). A video clip is being shared on social media with the claim that it pertains to a recent incident in Pakistan where a Hindu minor girl was gang-raped and her family was assaulted. Vishvas News investigation found this claim to be misleading. The video going viral is of an old incident in Pakistan, but it is being circulated with the misleading claim that it is recent.
What Is Going Viral?
Sharing the viral video (archive link), Facebook user ‘Parass Jethva’ wrote, “I am speechless after watching this video,,, still writing so that it may open the eyes of some secular Hindus. This true incident is from Pakistan where a 13-year-old Hindu girl and her family are crying but those 5 rascal Muslims raped and beat her. Because she is a Hindu.
My heart cries after watching this video of the atrocity and intolerable misbehavior. There is not just one but innumerable atrocities happening in Pakistan and Bangladesh.”
Several other users have shared the same video with similar claims on Twitter. Many users have also shared this video with the same claim on different social media platforms.
Investigation
A reverse image search of the key frames of the viral video found a report published on February 13, 2021 on the website of ‘Pakistan Daily’, in which the picture used matches the visuals of the viral video.
According to the information given in the report, “A 16-year-old minor was allegedly gang-raped by five people in Gulshan-e-Hadid, Karachi. As per information, five youths abducted the minor girl from Government College, Gulshan-e-Hadid.” The police immediately arrested the two accused after the girl’s statement in the matter.
People had also launched a campaign on the Pakistani social media in support of the victim. The incident is also mentioned in the reports of many other Pakistani news channels and websites. Karachi-based activist Shams Chandis also shared the picture of the incident on his Twitter handle.
According to a February 17, 2021 report on the arynews.tv website, “Deputy Inspector General (DIG) East constituted a special team to thoroughly investigate the alleged abduction and gang rape of a college girl in Gulshan-e-Hadid area of Karachi.”
It is clear that the incident that is going viral is an old one which happened in Pakistan. We contacted Pakistan-based journalist and fact checker Lubna Zarar Naqvi regarding the viral video. “The viral incident is old,” she confirmed.

The user who shared the viral video with the misleading claim appears to be influenced by a particular ideology, according to the content shared on his account.
