Quick Take
A social media post claims that the Nail Care Serum can fix all nail problems and promote nail growth. We fact checked this claim and found it to be mostly false.
The Claim
A Facebook post and a website claim that a “revolutionary Nail Care Serum” can repair damaged cuticles, strengthen brittle nails, restore natural nail colour, cure stubborn nail fungus in 1-2 weeks, treat Athlete’s foot, discoloured toenails, ingrown nails, and fungal nails, and promote nail growth.
Fact Check
Can the Nail Care Serum repair damaged cuticles and strengthen brittle nails?
Not exactly. The Nail Care Serum may moisturise and soften cuticles, which could improve their appearance but does not truly repair them. Brittle nails might look better with hydration, but this does not strengthen them at the core. Proper nail care and nutrition are essential for long-term health. Also, the product page does not mention any clinical trials or proof of effectiveness and lacks a full list of ingredients, raising questions about its claims.
Can the Nail Care Serum restore natural nail colour?
No, not reliably. Discoloured nails can be due to fungal infections, trauma, or health issues. While the serum may hydrate and improve the appearance, it cannot restore natural nail colour if the cause is internal or medical. Persistent discolouration should be checked by a healthcare provider.
Can the Nail Care Serum cure nail fungus and Athlete’s foot in 1-2 weeks?
No, this is misleading. Nail fungus and Athlete’s foot are caused by fungi that require medical antifungal treatments, which take months to work. The serum does not contain clinically proven antifungal ingredients strong enough to cure these infections. Prescription treatments are necessary for effective results.
We spoke to Dr Rashi Soni, Co-founder and Consulting Dermatologist at Rashi Hospital, Mumbai, about nail fungus treatment. She explained, “Nail fungus is often stubborn and usually needs prescription antifungal medications for complete recovery. Home remedies and over-the-counter solutions rarely provide permanent relief. Seeing a dermatologist helps get an accurate diagnosis and the right treatment, which can stop the condition from worsening or causing lasting damage.”
We also reached out to Dr Sachin Gupta, Consultant Dermatologist at Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, about effective treatments for nail fungus. He explained, “Prescription-strength antifungal medications are usually necessary to fully get rid of nail fungus. Over-the-counter options are often not strong enough. It’s important to see a doctor for an accurate diagnosis and the right treatment, as delaying care can lead to a persistent infection or long-term nail damage.”
On a related note, some home remedies claim that mixing garlic, baking soda, and vinegar or using bee venom can cure nail fungus. But these claims are misleading.
Can the Nail Care Serum treat ingrown nails and thickened, layered nails?
No, it may not. Ingrown nails require proper trimming or medical care, while thickened nails can result from fungal infections or health issues. The serum cannot fix these structural problems. Additionally, the product provides no evidence or detailed ingredient list to support such claims.
Can the Nail Care Serum promote nail growth?
Not directly. Nail growth depends on nutrition, health, and genetics. The serum may prevent breakage by keeping nails hydrated but does not speed up growth. Good nutrition and nail hygiene are more effective. Also, the product does not mention clinical trials or evidence supporting its growth-promoting claims.
Is metroowl.in a trustworthy website?
No, metroowl.in has a very low trust score of 32/100, according to Scamminder. The website raises concerns due to hidden domain registration details, generic content, and consistently discounted prices, which are common red flags for online scams. Although it uses a secure SSL certificate and offers customer support contacts, these do not confirm its authenticity. Be cautious before making any purchases.
Similarly, another website with a very low trust score on Scamminder promoted a neck massager called NeckVeda for neck pain, which we debunked earlier.
THIP Media take
The claim that the Nail Care Serum can fix all nail problems and promote nail growth is mostly false. The nail care serum may temporarily improve nail appearance and hydration but cannot fix all nail problems, cure fungal infections, or promote nail growth as claimed. For nail fungus, Athlete’s foot, or persistent discolouration, medical treatment is necessary.
