Two cops of UP police were suspended for thrashing two minors over allegations of theft. The incident has no connection to any incidents of slogans raised in favour of Pakistan. A disturbing video of police atrocities against two people has gone viral with the claim that UP policemen are thrashing them for shouting slogans in favour of Pakistan. Multiple Twitter and Facebook users have posted this viral clip along with the Hindi caption that reads, “UP police is teaching them a lesson for shouting slogans in favour of Pakistan”. The 2021 incident has no connection to any pro-Pakistan sloganeering. AFWA probe With the help of keywords search, India Today found a couple of news reports along with the same video or the screen grab of the viral video. The Hindi news portal “Amar Ujala”, used a screengrab of the same viral video and published a news report on May 2, 2021. As per the news report, this incident took place in Balua Police station area of UP’s Chandauli district. Following an allegation of a theft in a mobile store in that area, the local police chowki in-charge Shivanand Verma and constable Dilip Kumar reached the spot and brutally thrashed two suspects. The video of the police atrocities was caught on camera and went viral. According to the Chandauli police, the two personnel were suspended after a departmental inquiry.
