A few Facebook posts dated July 9, 2021 claims that the vaccine has already got WHO approval. We fact checked and found that as on July 11, 2021, CovIran is not on the approved list of WHO. While the vaccine may get WHO approval in the coming days, but based on the date of the claim, we rate it as False.

A number of Facebook posts have started claiming that Iranian Covid-19 vaccine has got WHO approval. Such posts can be seen here, here and here.
Fact Check
Does Iran have a COVID-19 vaccine of its own?
Yes. Iran has developed a Covid-19 vaccine named COVIran Barekat. COVIran Barakat is a COVID-19 vaccine developed by Iranian state-owned Shifa Pharmed Industrial Group.
This vaccine has been authorised for emergency use by the Iranian authorities.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei received the first dose of the “COVIRAN Bereket” vaccine against COVID-19 in Tehran, Iran, on June 25, 2021.
Did Iranian Vaccine CovIran get WHO approval?
Iran approved its flagship COVIran Barekat vaccine for emergency use on June 2021. However, as on July 11, 2021 the vaccine is still not in the approved vaccine list of World Health Organization (WHO).
The World Health Organization maintains a Vaccine Tracker on its website that lists all approved Vaccines. The page can be seen here and a snapshot of the same as on July 11, 2021 is given below.
