  • FACT CHECK: No, Ukraine Didn’t Release List Of Politicians Taking Bribes A post shared on Threads claims to show Ukraine releasing a list of politicians, such as President Joe Biden, taking bribes. View on Threads Verdict: False There is no evidence for this claim. Fact Check: Social media users are claiming that Ukraine released a list of politicians receiving bribes. Biden, for example, is alleged to have received over $92 million in bribes. One user wrote, “Ukrainian officials released how much of a kickback each politician is receiving.” This claim is false. No media outlets have reported on Ukrainian officials releasing any such list. A wider internet search also did not yield any results for this claim. (RELATED: FACT CHECK: Did Taylor Swift Say Elon Musk Was’ Radicalized By His Own Algorithm’?) The Dispatch Fact Check also reported that this claim appears to have originated from an October 2023 Thai-language website and then spread to various social media platforms such as X. An expert told the Dispatch that the claim was “absolutely nonsensical.” “There’s no credible sources whatsoever, anywhere, in any contexts that show that Ukraine is making these sorts of payments,” Ian Garner, an assistant professor at the Pilecki Institute, told The Dispatch Fact Check. The U.S. has approved around $175 billion in relation to Ukraine, with $106 billion going to Ukraine directly, mostly in the form of weapons, according to the Council on Foreign Relations. Check Your Fact previously reported that “the U.S. provided $7.9 billion in economic support in the last round of Ukraine aid approved by Congress,” according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies. This was structured in the form of a loan, though the president can forgive the loan, per the think tank.”
