The viral video is an old CCTV footage of a train accident in Hyderabad and has no connection to Rajasthan. No such train accident occurred in Jaipur. A video clip is going viral on social media, featuring two trains facing each other on the same track. The viral post claims that a train travelling from Ajmer to Assam met with an accident in Jaipur. Vishvas News investigated the claim and found it to be false. The video is from an accident that took place at Kachiguda railway station in Hyderabad on November 11, 2019. The CCTV footage of the same old accident is now falsely circulated as a recent accident in Jaipur.. What is going viral? The Instagram handle ‘official_sahil_shayar’ posted a clip on February 3, 2024 and claimed that another train accident had occurred in Jaipur. The video clip included a caption that “today at 12 o’clock in the morning, a train travelling from Ajmer to Assam collided with another train, resulting in 10 deaths and 80 injuries. See the archived version of the post here. Investigation Vishvas News began its investigation using the Google Open Search Tool to verify the viral clip claiming to be from Rajasthan. The keyword search did not find any credible news article that could confirm a train accident in Jaipur. Upon examining the video, we noticed the ‘Voice of America’ logo. Based on this, we searched for the original video on YouTube. The video was found on the ‘Voice of America’ YouTube channel, uploaded on November 12, 2019. The description confirmed that this incident occurred in Hyderabad on November 11, 2019, and the CCTV footage of this incident was officially released by the Indian Railways. While investigating further, we conducted a keyword search for additional details. We found a report on ‘V9 Bharatvarsh’s’ YouTube channel, which confirmed that two trains collided head-on at Kachiguda station near Hyderabad. was used in this report. This report uploaded on November 12, 2019, included the CCTV footage of the incident and stated that the accident occurred due to a signal error. During our investigation, we also found a report on Jagran.com, published on November 11, 2019. It read, “12 people were injured in a collision between two trains at Kacheguda railway station in Hyderabad. The incident occurred when a Multi-Modal Transit System (MMTS) train collided with the Kurnool City-Secunderabad Railway Intercity Express around 10.30 am. Railway officials said that 12 people were injured in a collision between two trains at Kacheguda railway station in Hyderabad on Monday.” You can read the detailed news report here. Vishvas News had previously investigated the viral clip. At that time, we contacted Rajesh Kalyan, Public Relations Officer of Hyderabad Zone Railway, who confirmed that the viral video was old and the accident occurred in Kachiguda. For further verification, Vishvas News contacted Narendra Sharma, Senior Correspondent, Dainik Jagran, Jaipur. He also confirmed that the viral video has no connection with Rajasthan. At the end of the investigation, we examined the user who posted the misleading post. The Instagram handle ‘official_sahil_shayar’ has over 800 followers. and was created in November 2023. Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated the viral claim and found it to be fake. The viral video is an old CCTV footage of a train accident in Hyderabad and has no connection to Rajasthan.
