| - Fact-Check: Old video of Hyderabad train crash going viral in the name of Odisha train accident
Vishvas News conducted an investigation and determined that the CCTV footage of a train accident that occurred in Hyderabad in 2019 is now being falsely shared as footage of the Odisha train accident. The viral post has been proven to be misleading.

New Delhi (Vishvas News): Since the train accident in Odisha, numerous fake and misleading posts have been circulating on social media. One particular video is being shared widely, claiming to be the CCTV footage of the Odisha train accident. Vishvas News conducted a fact-check on the viral post and found the claim to be misleading. In reality, the accident shown in the video occurred at Kachiguda railway station in Hyderabad on November 11, 2019.
What’s going viral?
A Facebook page named JK Update posted a video on June 4 and wrote, “CCTV footage of the train accident in Odisha.” Other users are also sharing it on different platforms, believing it to be true. The archived version of the post can be viewed here.
Vishvas News Investigation:
Vishvas News used the Google reverse image search tool and Google Lens to locate the original source of the viral clip. Continuing the investigation, a search for the original video was conducted on YouTube. Using various keywords, the video was found on a YouTube channel called ‘Voice of America’ three years ago. It was stated that the incident took place in Hyderabad on November 11, 2019, and the Indian Railways released the CCTV footage of the incident.
Based on this video, further information about the incident was gathered. Through keyword search, a news report was found on the YouTube channel of TV9 Bharatvarsh, uploaded three years ago, which mentioned that two trains had collided at Kachiguda station near Hyderabad. The news report included the CCTV footage.
Additional news related to the incident was found on Jagran.com. The news report published on November 11, 2019, stated, “Twelve people were injured in a collision between two trains at Kachiguda railway station in Hyderabad. The incident occurred when a Multi-Modal Transit System (MMTS) train collided with the Kurnool City-Secunderabad Railway Intercity Express around 10.30 am.”
To further investigate, Vishvas News contacted Rajesh Kalyan, the Railway Public Relations Officer of the Hyderabad Zone. He confirmed that the viral video is old and the accident happened in Kachiguda, having no connection to Odisha. Aditya Kumar Chaudhary, the CPRO of South East Railway, also deemed the viral post as fake and clarified that it has no relation to the Odisha train accident.
Conclusion: Vishvas News conducted an investigation and determined that the CCTV footage of a train accident that occurred in Hyderabad in 2019 is now being falsely shared as footage of the Odisha train accident. The viral post has been proven to be misleading.
