  • FACT CHECK: Did The World Economic Forum Want To Rewrite The Bible With AI? An image shared on Facebook claims the World Economic Forum wants to rewrite the Bible with artificial intelligence. Verdict: False The WEF did not say that the Bible should be rewritten by AI. The image misrepresents comments made by Yuval Noah Harari, a WEF contributor. Fact Check: Social media users have been sharing claims that the WEF believes AI should be rewritten by the Bible. The basis for this claim is comments made by Harari, a WEF contributor and professor of history at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. (RELATED: Does Viral Video Show The Nova Kakhovka Dam Being Blown Up?) Harai did not state that AI should rewrite the Bible. During an interview with journalist Pedro Pinto, Harari talked about the potency of AI and compared it to the printing press, radio and television. Compared to these forms of expression, AI can “create new ideas.” “AI can create new ideas, can even write a new Bible. We, throughout history, religions dreamt about having a book written by a superhuman intelligence, by a nonhuman entity. Every religion claims our book, all the other books of the other religions, oh humans wrote them, but our book, no no no no no. It came from some superhuman intelligence. In a few years, there might be religions that are actually correct. That, just think about a religion whose holy book is written by an AI. That could be a reality in a few years.” These comments show that he is talking about the potency of AI, not calling for the Bible to be rewritten by artificial intelligence. Lead Stories also debunked this claim. Check Your Fact reached out to WEF for comment and will update his piece if a response is received.
