  • FACT CHECK: Have AOC and Jamie Raskin Filed Articles Of Impeachment Against Trump Over Jan. 6 Pardons? A post shared on Facebook claims Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (New York) and Jamie Raskin (Maryland) have filed articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump over his Jan. 6 pardons. Verdict: False Neither Ocasio-Cortez nor Raskin have mentioned the claim via their respective websites and social media accounts. The claim appears to have originated via a post shared by a satirical account on X, according to PolitiFact. In addition, a spokesperson for Raskin denied the claim’s validity in an email to Check Your Fact. Fact Check: Raskin was among a group of Democratic lawmakers who were recently denied entry to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) headquarters, according to Axios. Raskin said the lawmakers were told “the office is closed and all employees were told just to telework” while addressing protestors outside the headquarters, the outlet reported. The Facebook post, which has received nearly 400 likes as of writing, claims Ocasio-Cortez and Raskin have filed articles of impeachment against Trump over his Jan. 6 pardons. “AOC and Jaime Raskin have filed articles of impeachment against President Trump for pardoning the J6 prisoners. Maybe Articles of Impeachment should be filed against them as well?” the post, which does not provide a source to support its claim, reads. The claim is false. Ocasio-Cortez does not appear to have issued a press release or social media statement referencing the claim. The same is true for Raskin. Check Your Fact did not find a press release or social media statement from Raskin supporting the claim. Likewise, there are no results for the purported articles of impeachment via Ocasio-Cortez and Raskin’s respective member profiles on Congress.gov. (RELATED: Facebook Post Makes False Claim About Elon Musk, Families Of Jan. 6 Participants) Check Your Fact also found no credible news reports to support the claim. Actually, the opposite is true. USA Today, PolitiFact, and Lead Stories all debunked the claim. According to PolitiFact, the claim appears to have originated via a post shared by a satirical account on X. In addition, Trump has not commented on the claim using his personal or government X accounts or his TRUTH Social account. Furthermore, a spokesperson for Raskin denied the claim’s validity in an email to Check Your Fact. “This is completely false,” the spokesperson said of the claim. Check Your Fact has also contacted Ocasio-Cortez’s office for comment.
