Veteran Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar passed away on 7 July in Mumbai. Since then, a video of him is going viral on social media, in which he is seen on a hospital bed and his wife Saira Banu is feeding him something. It is being claimed with the post that this is the last video of Dilip Kumar before his death. The claim turned out to be false in the investigation of Vishvas News. When Vishvas News checked the video, it was found that it is from 2013, when Dilip Kumar was admitted to Lilavati Hospital after suffering a heart attack. What’s in the viral post? Sharing this video of Dilip Kumar, Facebook page Bollywood Darpan wrote, “Dilip Kumar Last Video Inside Hospital Before He Left Us Saira Bano Ji Feeding Him Food”. The archived version of this post can be viewed here. Investigation We searched the keyframes of this video on Google reverse image. We found this video uploaded on Sep 22, 2013, on a YouTube channel named MouthShut.com. According to the description, the video was shot on September 21, 2018. We also found this video shared on the verified Twitter handle of Dilip Kumar on 22nd September 2013. It was written in the description that the video is from a day ago, i.e. 21 September 2018. We also found a keyframe of this video used as a thumb image in a news story filed on September 25, 2013. According to this news report, this picture was taken when Dilip Kumar was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai due to a heart attack. We found the same thumb image used in a story of www.news18.com. According to this report also, the picture is from 2013 when Dilip Kumar was admitted to Lilavati Hospital after a heart attack. For confirmation, we contacted Lilavati Hospital, where we were told by the PRO that this video is from 2013. He also told us that Dilip Kumar did not die in his hospital. It is clear that the video is from Lilavati Hospital and is old. According to news reports, Dilip Kumar died in Hinduja Hospital on July 7, 2021. Now it was time to do social scanning of Facebook page Bollywood Darpan who shared this post with a false claim. We found that this page 1,006 followers. Conclusion: In Vishvas News’ investigation, the claim turned out to be false.
