Some users also claimed that the viral video is from PGI, Chandigarh. Archived versions of such tweets can be seen here, here, here and here. A keyword search for “doctors,” “OT” & “argument” on Google led us to a report by NDTV, dated August 31, 2017. Carrying snippets from the viral clip, the report stated, “As a woman lay on the operation table for an emergency C-section in Jodhpur’s Umaid Hospital, two doctors argued loudly, calling each other names and even threatening each other.” It added, “The argument broke out between the doctors – Ashok Nainwal and ML Tak – during an emergency caesarean surgery scheduled because of the feeble heartbeat of the foetus.” In a tweet, dated August 30, 2017, news agency ANI had shared the viral video with the caption, “Rajasthan: Verbal spat between two doctors in OT during the surgery of a pregnant woman in Jodhpur’s Umaid Hospital (29.8.17).” Reporting on the incident, a Hindustan Times article, dated August 31, 2017, “The spat triggered allegations that their patient, identified as Anita, lost her newborn because of medical negligence. The court too sought to know if that was the case. The secretary of the Rajasthan Legal Services Authority told the court that a woman named Naseem Bano was on the operating table when the video was shot. She delivered a healthy girl. Anita was also in the operating theatre for a C-section and her newborn, also a girl, died after birth. The official said a detailed inquiry would reveal if the two doctors’ row had a role in the infant’s death.” It had further added, “The high court took suo motu cognizance of the case after the video was extensively shared. It ordered the district collector to include the Jodhpur metropolitan chief judicial magistrate in the inquiry committee formed by the state government. The court asked for a report by September 4.” The incident was widely reported by news outlets. Such reports can be seen here, here, and here. We could thus conclude that the viral video showing doctors engaged in a verbal spat during an operation is neither from Pakistan, nor Chandigarh. The clip shows an incident that happened at a hospital in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur in 2017.
