  • Fact Check: Video showing Hindus with saffron flags near a masjid is not from Ujjain but from Karnataka A video showing a Hindu procession in front of a masjid is in circulation with the claim that after Muslims shouted Pakistan Zindabad slogans during a Muharram procession in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh Claim :Video shows Hindus gathered near a mosque with saffron flags in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, in protest to pro-Pakistan slogans at the Muharram procession. Fact :The video is from the Ram Navami procession in 2019 from Karnataka A video showing a Hindu procession in front of a masjid is in circulation with the claim that after Muslims shouted Pakistan Zindabad slogans during a Muharram procession in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, Hindus gathered near a Masjid with Saffron flags and shouted anti–Pakistani slogans. The caption shared along with the video is “Muslims raised slogans of Pakistan Zindabad during a recent procession in Ujjain city. On the second day, all the Hindus in the city gathered in front of the mosque with saffron flags "Those who chanted 'Pakistan Zindabad' should not live here; go to Pakistan," they protested. Look at the gathering of Hindu people. Will they speak in favor of Pakistan again? (Living in India, dying in India, earning in India but still favoring Pakistan just because Pakistani are their Muslim brothers)!!!” Fact check: The claim is False. The viral video is not from Ujjain, this shows the Sri Ram Navami procession in Karnataka in 2018. When we performed a reverse image search using Google, we found that a similar video was shared by YouTube channels in 2019. A YouTube channel named Hiremath Varun shared the video on April 13 2019 with the title “Ram Navami biggest celebration in the world 2 lakh people dancing at Gulbarga Shobha yatra” When searched further, we found that the same video was also shared by a Youtube channel named NCB creation with the title “Ram Navami Full Crowd in Karnataka Gulbarga 2k18” Here is the comparison of the screenshots from the viral video and the YouTube video, which proves that it is the same location. Therefore, the video is from Karnataka and not Ujjain. The claim that Hindus gathered near a masjid in protest of pro-Pakistani slogans is False. The video shows the Sri Ram Navami procession in Karnataka in 2018.
