  • FACT CHECK: Did Joe Biden Sing ‘Baby Shark’ During A Public Event? A post shared on Facebook allegedly shows President Joe Biden singing the children’s song “Baby Shark” during a recent public event. Verdict: False The video is digitally altered. The original video shows Biden delivering an Oct. 14 speech at Irvine Valley Community College in California on lowering the cost of prescription drugs. Fact Check: Biden told oil companies they should use “record-breaking profits to increase production and refining” in a set of remarks Oct. 19, CNBC reported. The president also warned Republicans would cause “chaos” in the economy should they make solid gains in the 2022 midterms, Reuters reported. The Facebook post, which includes a link to the video on YouTube, appears to show Biden singing “Baby Shark” during a recent public event. In the video, Biden stands on stage and prepares the crowd to hear the U.S. national anthem before he begins singing the popular children’s song. An on-screen chyron reads, “Biden: Price Of Chargers Drops Due To Mining.” Next to the chyron is a logo in the shape of an onion. The video is digitally altered. A subsequent keyword search reveals the video originates via TikTok. The video’s creator, “SyntheticVoices,” shared that the video is a “deepfake” in a comment thread on the same post. (RELATED: Is President Biden Getting Divorced?) The original video shows Biden delivering an Oct. 14 speech on lowering the cost of prescription drugs at Irvine Valley Community College in California. During the speech, Biden touted his administration’s Inflation Reduction Act, saying the law “allows Medicare to negotiate lower prescription drug prices.” Biden also mentioned lowering the cost of insulin during his remarks. The president does not break out into song during his speech. There are no credible news reports suggesting such an event occurred. Likewise, there is no mention of the claim on the White House’s verified social media pages or its official website. In addition, the onion in the lower right-hand corner belongs to satire website “The Onion,” but features no such video on their website. Check Your Fact has contacted a White House spokesperson for comment and will update this piece accordingly if one is received.
