New Delhi (Vishvas News). A terrorist attack took place in Pulwama, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir on February 14, 2019. Six years later, a video of a vehicle blast is going viral on social media. The video shows vehicles moving along a highway when a sudden blast occurs. Some users are now sharing this video claiming it to be from the Pulwama attack.
Vishvas News investigated and found the viral claim to be false. The video dates back to an incident in Iraq in 2007 and has no connection with the current situation or the Pulwama attack.
What is going viral?
Facebook user ‘Ranjeet Fagna Lilaria’ shared the viral video on February 11, 2025, (archived link) with the caption, “ day14 February 2019. Pulwama attack”
Instagram user ‘pk_editor_bk_7780’ also shared the video with the same claim.
Investigation
To verify the authenticity of the viral video, we captured screenshots of the video and searched them using Google Lens. This led us to a related report on military.com, published on April 27, 2011. According to the information given, this video is from Iraq.
We also found the same video on a YouTube channel named ‘BidentheBrig’, uploaded on December 5, 2011. The timestamp shown in the video indicates that the incident occurred in Iraq in 2007.
We found the viral video shared by a Facebook user named Mark Dale. In the post shared on May 12, 2013, the incident is said to have taken place at Camp Taji in Iraq in September 2007.
We found the same video shared on several other YouTube channels and Facebook pages, all claiming it to be from Iraq in 2007.
The video has gone viral on social media earlier with the same claim. During our previous investigation also we found it to be fake. At that time, we contacted Army PRO Sudhir Chamoli, who confirmed that the claim was false. The fact check report can be accessed here.
Finally, we scanned the profile of the user who shared the video and found that the user has over 5000 followers.
