Listen to Story India Today Fact Check This video is from the African nation of Sudan and has nothing to do with the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. A video of a bomb being dropped on a group of people causing a huge explosion is going viral on social media with the claim that Israel bombed Palestinian children, gathered to drink water in Gaza. More than 1,800 children have reportedly The caption with the video reads, "The Israeli army dropped a bomb on Palestinian children who gathered to drink water. The Jews of Israel are the worst nation in the world. Countries that support Israel should be ashamed of themselves for standing with terrorism". The video has been shared on both Facebook and X with similar claims. The archived version of one such post can be seen here. India Today found that the video is from the African nation of Sudan and has nothing to do with the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. Our Probe With the help of the Invid tool, we found the viral video in a report published by the Turkish media outlet “Haber7” on October 12, 2023. As per the report, the video showed a drone attack by the Sudanese army on the paramilitary force "Rapid Support Force" that caused severe damage. The X account "Sudan News" also shared the video with the same information on October 12, 2023. It said that the Sudanese army attacked RSF soldiers when they were refuelling their motorcycles. Al Jazeera Sudan in a Facebook post noted that the incident took place in Sudan's capital Khartoum. Apart from this, some X users claimed that this happened near the Khartoum airport. Using the above information, we geolocated the video and found where the bomb was dropped — a jet fuel depot located near Khartoum airport. The conflict between the Sudanese Army and RSF has been going on since April 2023. At least 5,000 civilians have been killed in the clashes triggered over the integration of the RSF into the army. The tension began after the 2021 coup in Sudan when a disagreement arose between the army and RSF regarding how the integration would take place and which authority should oversee that process. It can thus be concluded that the video of a drone attack in Sudan was falsely shared as a bombing in Gaza.
