  • FACT CHECK: Did Nancy Pelosi Say Trump Is The ‘Best President Ever’? A video shared on Facebook over 880 times claims House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said former President Donald Trump is the “best president ever,” and held a new election for him. Verdict: False There is no evidence Pelosi ever said that Trump is the “best president ever.” Nor did she hold an election for him. Fact Check: The viral post contains what appears to be a segment from conservative news outlet Newsmax. The text accompanying the video reads, “Pelosi said Trump is BEST PRESIDENT ever after Biden’s bragging…She holds new election for Trump.” The 27-minute video does not, however, mention Pelosi making such a statement or her holding a “new election” for Trump. Rather, the newscast spoke about topics such as infrastructure, Trump campaigning for president, immigration and gun laws, among other things. There is no record of Pelosi calling Trump the “best president ever” elsewhere. Check Your Fact searched Pelosi’s verified Twitter accounts for such a statement, but found no instances of her calling Trump the best president. Nor does the statement appear in any of her press releases. A search of the congressional record likewise turned up no such comment. Pelosi has previously been an outspoken critic of Trump, and called for him to be removed from office in January, according to the Washington Post. Had Pelosi praised Trump saying he was the “best president ever,” media outlets certainly would have reported on it, yet none have. Furthermore, there is no evidence Pelosi held a “new election” for Trump. A search of news outlets reporting on such an election turned up no results. Additionally, President Joe Biden is still listed as the current president by the Library of Congress. Biden defeated Trump in the November 2020 presidential election with 306 Electoral College votes.
