The Quint spoke with some shopkeepers of Khureji area, who confirmed that the video is from the same area.
How did we find out the truth?: We performed a reverse image search on some of the keyframes of the viral video and this led us to several social media posts from 2020.
YouTuber Dhruv Rathee had shared this video in 2020 and raised the question that why is Delhi Police breaking CCTV cameras.
This was also shared by NYOOOZ TV on 26 February 2020.
The description stated that amidst the news about the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protests at Khureji Khas in north east Delhi, protesters recording police personnel allegedly manhandling the cameras.
The Quint also shared a report about this incident on 26 February 2020, it stated that this video is from Khureji area of Delhi, where a policeman was seen breaking a CCTV camera near a petrol pump.
The Quint also spoke to some shopkeepers of Khureji area, who not only confirmed that the video is from the same area, but also told that the policemen had broken the CCTV cameras installed outside their shops.
During the Delhi riots, some videos of Jamia Millia Islamia University also surfaced, in which Delhi Police personnel were allegedly seen breaking the CCTVs installed in the university.
Conclusion: An old video from Delhi is going viral to claim that police personnel were seen breaking the CCTV cameras in Sambhal.
