OUR PROBE
A reverse search of keyframes from the viral clip led us to a post on X by news agency ANI. On June 3, ANI shared a 14-second-long clip of DK Shivakumar’s byte. In this clip, a reporter asked about the Congress’ prediction of the election results, to which Shivakumar replied, “All seven seats we will.” However, it was unclear which state the reporter and Shivakumar were referring to.
After this, the reporter asked, “What is the reaction at this exit poll?” To this, Shivakumar said, “I don’t believe. we will have, INDIA will form the government.”
After the seventh and last phase on June 1, various news channels presented their exit poll data that predicted a clear majority for the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance. However, the Congress party and other members of the INDIA bloc have claimed that the exit polls will be proven wrong on June 4, the counting day.
It is thus clear that DK Shivakumar’s clipped video is being shared with misleading context.
