  • FACT CHECK: Did Joe Biden Agree To A Recount Of The 2024 Presidential Election? A post shared on Threads claims President Joe Biden purportedly agreed to a recount of the 2024 presidential election. View on Threads Verdict: False The claim is not referenced on the White House’s website or verified social media accounts, and Biden also has not commented on the claim. There is no other evidence to support the claim. Fact Check: Biden said nobody can “reverse” the U.S.’ “clean energy revolution” while delivering remarks on climate change in the Amazon rainforest, according to The Associated Press. Biden delivered the remarks amid the United Nations’ climate conference in Azerbaijan, the outlet reported. The Threads post, which has received over 100 likes as of writing, claims Biden purportedly agreed to a recount of the 2024 presidential election. The claim is false. Check Your Fact did not find the claim referenced on the White House’s website or its verified social media accounts. Likewise, Biden has not publicly commented on the claim via his personal or government X accounts. In addition, 2024 Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris conceded to President-Elect Donald Trump in a speech delivered at her alma mater Howard University, according to a Nov. 6 article published by Newsweek. Citing The Associated Press and National Conference of State Legislatures, the outlet indicated that laws regarding recounts vary by state with 25 states and the District of Columbia having laws that “trigger automatic recounts if an election is close,” or within less than an 0.5% margin. The outlet also reported it was unlikely Harris would call for a recount as Trump was winning in states such as Wisconsin and Pennsylvania with over 95% of ballots having been counted at the time.
