Amid the ongoing controversy around standup comic Samay Raina and YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, a clip is now being shared to claim that it shows a recent instance of the former apologising to people mockingly.
Those sharing the clip have posted it with a caption saying, "Samay Raina issues apology video after India’s Got Latent controversy."
What led us to the truth?: Team WebQoof conducted a Google Lens search on the keyframes of the viral clip and found a longer version uploaded on an unverified YouTube channel called 'Dhh Fnatic'.
The video was published on 7 November 2023 and it was titled, "Samay Raina Roast Rappers (Kr$na, Mc Stan, TA, Raftaar, ikka)| At Karam Album Launch."
At around the 3:07 mark, Raina could be heard making the same statement as seen in the viral clip.
What did Raina actually say in his response: Responding to the controversy on his official X handle, the comedian said that he has removed all the episodes of his show.
Raina further said that he will fully cooperate with all agencies "to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly".
The post was shared on 12 February.
Conclusion: It is clear that this video is old and is being incorrectly shared as a recent one.
