In the viral post, some train coaches can be seen burning in flames. The post claims that this train accident took place in Chhapra. Vishvas News investigated and found the claim to be fake. Old photos are going viral with the fake claim. Earlier as well similar pictures went viral with the different claim. Its fact check can be read here. Claim Facebook user Ranjit Kumar shared a collage of five photographs on May 11 in a group called ‘Anju Kumari 2’, claiming that the Chhapra-Anand Vihar Terminal Express collided. The user claimed: ‘Just now: Chhapra, Anand Vihar Terminal exp collided, people jumped from the moving train! Brother please share this to your groups. Don’t forget to share this photo. Maybe somewhere find their near ones.” Investigation Vishvas News started its investigation by searching the viral photos. The collage of five pictures featured only two pictures whereas other pictures were the repetition. We searched and found the two pictures were used in some videos. In the videos uploaded on February 2019 and December 2019, these pictures were used claiming to be an accident in Anand Vihar and in Kanpur respectively. Vishvas News did not independently verify the location. It is clear that the photos are being shared online for many years with claims stating different locations. Hence, these weren’t recent and had nothing to do with Chhapra. Vishvas News contacted Rajiv Ranjan, the in-charge of Dainik Jagran, Chhapra. He told us that this picture is not related to Chhapra. The old picture of some other place is viral in the name of Chhapra. We also contacted the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Railways. He denied any such incident. We scanned the profile of the Facebook user Ranjit Kumar who shared the viral post. We found that the user is based out of Darapur and has more than 3000 friends. Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated and found the claim to be fake. Old photos showing the birning coaches of the train are going viral with fake claim that it happened in Chhapra. - Claim Review : Just now: Chhapra, Anand Vihar Terminal exp collided, people jumped from the moving train!
