  • Last Updated on September 9, 2024 by Nivedita Quick Take A social media post stated about teenage cardiovascular negative impacts as caused by Covid vaccine. We did a fact check and after carefully observing related researches, we found that the claim has missing context and is Half True. The Claim Covid vaccinations are examined before being administered using long-standing, extensive, and rigorous protocols. However, a tweet tends to overestimate the associated side effects. Fact Check Is the COVID – 19 vaccine harmful for teenagers? May be. The vaccination programme for COVID-19 among teenagers was launched as per the recommendation of the American Academy of Pediatrics. This could be attributed to their role in disease prevention and control. Vaccination helps the body’s immune system to generate antibodies, hence, saving from potential risks. However, vaccine safety has always been a source of concern for the healthcare sector. As a result, significant guidelines have been established by numerous international agencies. These mainly include vaccination for particular groups, adverse reactions, and vaccination safeguards. According to the most recent data, over 22 covid-19 vaccines have been authorized. Important thing is that the detrimental consequences are most common in teenagers over the age of 16. These are similar to those seen in adolescents. Pain, redness, and swelling at the injection site are the most common symptoms. Fatigue, headache, chills, fever, and muscle or joint discomfort are all possible symptoms. Furthermore, covid-19 vaccinations have been linked to myocarditis. The fact check by THIP Media clearly highlights that “the benefits of covid vaccines outweigh the known and potential risks.” Another social media post shares a screenshot of an article published on a media website that claims every 1 in 500 children who received the Pfizer vaccine are hospitalized by it. Nonetheless, the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines in children and adolescents in terms of protection and harmful impacts remains uncertain. This could be explained by its low prevalence among children and teenagers. THIP MEDIA TAKE: Children and teenagers are a population with specific needs and requirements. Therefore, to ensure their safety, high-quality clinical trials would be required.
