An image of a banner carrying former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's photo with text saying "Kejriwal will come" is being circulated on the internet with a claim that the banner was put outside the Tihar Jail in Delhi.
An X (formerly Twitter) premium subscriber named 'Boiled Anda' shared the image on their handle taking a dig at Kejriwal.
What is the truth?: The viral image has been edited to add the banner supporting Kejriwal. The original photo did not carry anything related to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader.
What led us to the truth?: On conducting a simple reverse image search, we found a similar visual published in a report by The Hindu.
The report dated back to 2021 and talked about several inmates who were released on emergency parole or interim bail amid the COVID-19 outbreak being arrested again.
It said that these inmates were allegedly involved in different criminal cases, which led to their arrest.
Other news outlets like The New Indian Express and The Pioneer shared the visual in their respective reports.
Comparing visuals: Team WebQoof compared the viral image to the one published in the reports and found that the former was edited to add the banner of Kejriwal.
Conclusion: It is evident that the viral image has been edited to target Kejriwal.
