Fact
Newschecker first ran a keyword search for “Kejriwal Muslims voting day facilities,” which did not lead us to any credible news reports about such a request or letter from Kejriwal to the ECI. The letter was also not dated, although the reference to voting being on the next day clearly indicates that the purported letter was written on February 4, 2025. Winning 48 seats out of 70 on February 8 (the counting day), the BJP is all set to form the next government in Delhi, after a gap of 27 years. We looked up Kejriwal’s official X account, where we did not find any such letter by the former CM. We, however, came across a couple of earlier letters, one written to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, and the other to the ECI on unrelated issues, where you can clearly see that they were signed on the bottom-right and not on the bottom-left as seen in the viral letter, along with the dates being mentioned.
Comparison of the viral letter (left) to the letter written to Mohan Bhagwat (right).
Also, we came across this January 19, 2025 letter from Kejriwal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting him to provide land to the Delhi government for constructing homes for government employees. In the letter, written in Hindi, Kejriwal raised the issue of challenges related to permanent housing faced by New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) sanitation workers after retirement. We can clearly see the serial number in the original letter (NCO/25/10) (right) is the same as the one in the viral letter (left), further proving that it was fake.
We then reached out to the AAP, which debunked the letter and said, “It’s fake and no such letter has been written”.
Result: False
