  • FACT CHECK: Does This Video Show Early Voting In Michigan? A post shared on social media purportedly shows a video of people in line to vote early in Michigan. View this post on Instagram Verdict: False The line is for a Harris rally. Fact Check: Polls indicate that Vice President Kamala Harris leads former President Donald Trump with Gen Z voters, but is less popular with young Black Americans than President Joe Biden, NPR reported. However, her support with young Americans is better than Biden’s before he left the race. A post shared on Instagram allegedly shows a long line to vote early in Michigan. The video shows a long line of people on a sidewalk as the person holding the camera walks down the street. The caption reads, “Early voting in Grand Rapids, Michigan.” The claim is inaccurate. The video was posted to TikTok on Oct. 18. The video is currently unavailable, but the same scene was uploaded by USA Today. The caption indicates that the line is for a Harris rally. The rally took place in Riverside Park. Michigan. The state went to Trump in 2016 and Biden in 2020, according to CNN. (RELATED: Does Using Sharpies On Election Ballots Invalidate Your Vote?) Early voting was not open in Michigan until several days after this event. Michigan early in-person voting starts on Oct. 26. This is not the first time misinformation has circulated online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim that Keir Starmer called London a “great Muslim city.”
